PIAAC-Longitudinal (PIAAC-L) 2014 (English Version) - Cognitive Pretest
Abstract:
In the research project "PIAAC-Longitudinal (PIAAC-L)" GESIS, LIfBi and SOEP are jointly conducting one of the world's first internationally comparable long-term studies on competencies in adulthood and their significance in the life course.
This pretest includes questions on self-assessed reading and everyday mathematical competence, socio-economic status, and partnership.
The questions were tested via face-to-face cognitive interviews.
*Note: The items were tested in German. The items documented here are English translations of the original German wordings. The translations do not correspond exactly to the formulations in the English PIAAC source questionnaire.*

Project Description:
In the research project "PIAAC-Longitudinal (PIAAC-L)" GESIS, LIfBi and SOEP are jointly conducting one of the world's first internationally comparable long-term studies on competencies in adulthood and their significance in the life course. The Germany-wide long-term study PIAAC-L investigates questions such as "How do individual competencies affect the career paths of people in Germany?", "What is the connection between personal skills and professional mobility?", "How are competencies distributed within individual families/between partners?", and "What does this mean for career opportunities in our society? Within the framework of PIAAC-L, the German PIAAC sample will be surveyed and tested in three further surveys.
