Child(ren) are already (all) either vaccinated against COVID-19 or recovered and therefore do not need to be vaccinated (again).

    1. Recommendations: See recommendations for question 7.

Because corona vaccination is currently available for children as young as 5 years of age, we recommend that the question be asked with respect to children aged 5 to 11 years.

  2. Findings for Question: Question 8 was asked of respondents who had indicated in the screening questions that they had children between the ages of 6 and 11 who lived - at least occasionally - in the respondent's household (n = 75). As shown in Table 9, the respondents used the entire range of the response scale. A total of two respondents selected the residual category "Child(ren) are already vaccinated or recovered against COVID-19 and therefore do not need to be vaccinated (again)." Of these, one subject additionally located himself on the response scale rather than selecting only the residual category. This test person was in favor of vaccination for children between 6 and 11 years of age (scale value 7).

The aim of the pretest was to investigate how the test persons justified their answers to question 8 and whether the justifications matched the selected scale value (N1_F8, see Appendix). The respondents’ justifications matched their respective selected scale values, i.e., lower values on the response scale corresponded to a negative attitude toward vaccination, and higher values corresponded to a positive attitude toward vaccination of children between the ages of 6 and 11:
    • "To my knowledge, Corona does not harm children." (TP88, scale score: 0)
    • "Because there are too few long-term studies on this." (TP126, scale value: 1)
    • "I am unsure because I don't know how the child will tolerate it. Because I am also afraid for my child." (TP97, scale value: 5)
    • "A little uncertainty remains, but I am very sure." (TP118, scale score: 9)
    • "Sufficient data are collected and reviewed before a vaccine is approved." (TP110, scale score: 10)
